Dr. Sapna Nanda of the Government College of Education and Dr. Bharti Goel, a Research Scholar in Home Science (Foods & Nutrition) at Chandigarh, have developed a new herbal formulation for managing diabetes. The formulation, which boasts fewer side effects compared to synthetic medications, was granted a patent within two years. The patent, awarded from December 30, 2022 (Patent No. 558840), is cataloged under N8A3202406658 for 20 years and has received recognition from the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA).
This innovative formulation is seen as a promising alternative to synthetic diabetes medications, which often have long-term side effects. By leveraging natural, traditional herbs, the team has created a safe, effective, and sustainable solution to diabetes management. The research was carried out in collaboration with Prof. Anil Kumar, Chairperson at the University of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, and an expert in biomedical research.
