New Delhi, October 5
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar announced on Saturday that he will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad on October 15-16 but clarified that there will be no bilateral talks with Pakistan. Responding to a question from the audience after delivering the Sardar Patel Lecture on Governance in New Delhi, Jaishankar ruled out the possibility of discussions with Pakistani officials. The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday confirmed Jaishankar’s travel plans, marking his first visit to Islamabad in nearly a decade; the last visit by External Affairs Minister was in 2015 when then EAM Sushma Swaraj traveled to Pakistan.
