In a significant blow to Kangana Ranaut, the Bombay High Court on Wednesday declined to order the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to certify her upcoming movie ‘Emergency.’ The court highlighted that the Madhya Pradesh High Court had already instructed the CBFC to consider objections against the film before granting certification. “The Madhya Pradesh High Court has already directed the CBFC. If we provide any relief today, it would directly contravene that order. By doing so, we would be asking the CBFC to disregard another High Court’s directive, which we cannot permit. Judicial propriety demands that we respect the existing order,” the bench remarked. The Bombay High Court also urged the CBFC to evaluate the objections and finalize the certification process by September 18. On the other hand, Kangana in his post on X shared a post stating that the High Court has blasted the censor for illegally holding the certificate of emergency.
