BJP MP Anurag Thakur on Tuesday described the Karur tragic incident as “more than an accident”, calling it an act of “grave criminal negligence” that could have been avoided if the DMK-led state government had taken preventive measures. At least 40 people have died and more than 100 others were injured in a stampede in Karur of Tamil Nadu.
Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, Thakur said justice must be delivered to the victims, their families and the injured. “Those responsible must be brought to book without delay,” he added. The BJP leader said he was travelling with fellow MPs to Karur to investigate the causes of the tragedy.
