New Delhi, August 17
The father of the postgraduate trainee doctor who was brutally raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College has refused to accept any compensation, stating that doing so would dishonor his daughter. He expressed his deep gratitude for the nationwide protests but emphasized that he seeks justice, not financial reparation, as reported by the news outlet Mint.
The father also refrained from sharing details of his discussion with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), citing legal restrictions. He confirmed that the CBI has assured them of swift action and severe punishment for the perpetrators based on the information provided.
The tragic incident, which took place on August 9, has led to widespread protests and a shutdown of medical services as students and doctors demand justice. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has called for a 24-hour nationwide strike to protest the trainee doctor’s death, as the CBI continues its investigation.
