New Delhi, November 25

Indian Coast Guard (ICG) officers seized 6,000 kg of methamphetamine from a fishing vessel near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in what officials described as the country’s largest-ever drug haul. The drugs, packed in 3,000 packets weighing 2 kg each, were hidden aboard the boat carrying six Myanmarese crew members, authorities said on Monday.

“This is likely the biggest-ever drug haul by the Indian Coast Guard,” a defense official said, underscoring its significance in combating regional trafficking networks.

The operation marks another milestone in India’s intensified efforts to curb narcotics smuggling in maritime routes.
