Modi Calls for human-centric development, UN reforms

Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored India’s vision for a sustainable future while addressing the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations in New York. Speaking on behalf of one-sixth of humanity, Modi called for a human-centric approach in the global pursuit of peace, development, and prosperity.

The Prime Minister highlighted India’s success in scaling sustainable development initiatives, noting that the country has lifted 250 million people out of poverty in the past decade. He expressed solidarity with the Global South, emphasizing India’s willingness to share its development experiences.Prime Minister Modi also advocated for balanced regulations to ensure the safe and responsible use of technology, stating that India is ready to share its digital public infrastructure for the common good. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to the principle of “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”

Calling for urgent reforms in global governance, including at the UN Security Council, Modi emphasized that global actions must meet global ambitions. The summit concluded with the adoption of a landmark outcome document, “A Pact for the Future,” along with annexes on the Global Digital Compact and a Declaration on Future Generations.
