New Delhi, December 2
Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi on Tuesday said the Navy will receive its first batch of four Rafale-M fighter jets in 2029, following the signing of the procurement agreement earlier this year. Speaking ahead of Navy Day, Admiral Tripathi said Operation Sindoor had significantly affected Pakistan’s maritime and economic activity. He noted that several major shipping companies “avoided Pakistani ports and increased insurance premiums” after the operation began.
He added that the carrier battle group deployed under Operation Sindoor “forced the Pakistani Navy to remain in port” and that its vessels “never ventured out” during the period of heightened activity. The operation, he said, remains ongoing. Admiral Tripathi also highlighted the Navy’s modernisation efforts, noting that one submarine and 12 warships have been commissioned since last Navy Day on 4 December 2024.
