At least nine people were dead while 11 injured after a pickup truck collided with a canter near Guru Har Sahai in Punjab’s Ferozepur district on Friday. The victims were returning from work at a marriage palace in Jalalabad when the accident occurred. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be confirmed, but a preliminary probe suggests a tire burst in the canter may have led to the collision.
Sharing details, the Deputy Commissioner of Ferozepur said that nine people were killed and 11 injured in a collision between a pickup truck and a canter on the Ferozepur-Fazilka road. The bodies of the deceased have been kept at Jalalabad Hospital. Of the injured, ten were referred to Medical College, Faridkot, while one remains under treatment in Jalalabad, he added.
The district administration dispatched five ambulances to the scene and assured full medical support for the injured. Police have launched an investigation, and further details will be provided as they emerge.
