Starting October 1, rural residents of Himachal Pradesh will be charged Rs 100 per month for each water connection, as per the notification issued by the Jal Shakti Vibhag on September 21. The same rate will apply to every additional connection. However, certain groups, such as widows, destitute women, and disabled individuals, will continue to receive free water supply. Families earning less than Rs 50,000 annually will be charged 50% of the revised rates.
The notification also includes revised rates for domestic, commercial, non-domestic, and non-commercial water supply in both rural and urban areas. Additionally, rates for sewerage connections, irrigation charges, and bulk water supply have also been revised.
