Indian security forces killed three suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in an encounter in the Zinpather Keller area of Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, the Indian Army said. The operation, dubbed Operation Keller, was launched by a Rashtriya Rifles unit following precise intelligence about terrorists presence in the region, the army said in a post on social media platform X.
One of the slain terrorists has been identified as Shahid, a local resident,” an official said, adding that a fierce exchange of fire took place before the terrorists were neutralised. “The area has been cordoned off and the search operation remains ongoing. The gunbattle marks the latest in a series of counter-insurgency actions in the region, which has seen renewed violence in recent months,” the Army said.
