The United States has expressed strong solidarity with India in the wake of a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed 26 lives. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth telephoned his Indian counterpart, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on Thursday to convey his condolences over what he described as a “dastardly” act of terror.
During the conversation, Rajnath Singh accused Pakistan of a long-standing role in fostering terrorism in the region. “Pakistan has been exposed as a rogue state, fuelling global terrorism and destabilising the region,” he said, urging the international community to unequivocally condemn such violence. “The world can no longer turn a blind eye to terrorism,” Rajnath Singh added.
In response, Hegseth reaffirmed Washington’s support for India’s counterterrorism efforts. “The US stands in solidarity with India and supports its right to defend itself,” he said, pledging continued cooperation against cross-border terror threats.
