New Delhi, April 18
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a “constructive conversation” with Tesla chief Elon Musk on Friday, reaffirming India’s commitment to deepening technological and innovation partnerships with the United States.
The call, which Modi described in a post on X (formerly Twitter), revisited themes discussed during the pair’s meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. Their dialogue is part of a broader diplomatic effort to strengthen India-US cooperation in emerging technologies.
“Spoke to @elonmusk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year,” Modi posted. “We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation. India remains committed to advancing our partnerships with the US in these domains.”
The conversation comes amid growing interest in India’s tech sector from global companies, with Musk previously expressing enthusiasm about Tesla’s entry into the Indian market and broader collaborations through ventures like SpaceX and Starlink.
While no formal agreements were announced following the latest exchange, officials see the dialogue as a step toward aligning priorities in artificial intelligence, clean energy, and space technology.
