Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the Maldivian capital, Male, on Friday to a warm reception led by President Mohamed Muizzu and top members of his cabinet. The welcome delegation included Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer, Defence Minister Ghassan Maumoon, Finance Minister Mohamed Shafeeq, and Minister of Homeland Security Ali Ihusaan. Modi’s visit comes amid efforts to recalibrate ties between the two nations following recent diplomatic tensions. The visit is expected to focus on regional cooperation, development partnerships, and maritime security in the Indian Ocean. It is Modi’s first visit to the Maldives since President Muizzu took office in 2023.
