New Delhi, December 13
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in her debut speech in Lok Sabha on Friday, accused the Centre government of attempting to undermine the Constitution’s protective shield, which she referred to as the ‘Suraksha Kavach’ (safety armour). Gandhi claimed that the Centre government was favouring industrialist Gautam Adani at the expense of the Indian public. She emphasized that the Constitution serves as a ‘suraksha kavach,’ a protective shield of justice, unity, and the right to express, safeguarding citizens. However, she expressed disappointment that over the past decade, those in power, despite making grand promises, have relentlessly worked to dismantle this very shield.
She further alleged that the government was weakening reservations through lateral entry schemes and privatisation efforts.
