Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday criticised the central government over concerns about the availability of cooking gas, questioning how long people would tolerate rising economic pressures.
Speaking to reporters in the Parliament House Complex, the Indian National Congress leader said households were already facing rising prices and unemployment, and the latest concerns over LPG supplies were adding to public hardship.
“I am wondering, how much will the people tolerate,” she said. “In the last 10 years, prices of all things have gone up, unemployment is rising, and now look at the LPG situation.”
Her remarks came amid reports of supply concerns after the expanding conflict in West Asia disrupted global fuel supply chains, including shipments linked to India.
The government has prioritised domestic LPG supplies for households to ensure cooking gas availability, a move that has led to shortages for hotels and restaurants that rely on commercial cylinders.
Gandhi said the situation was the result of government policies and argued that the issue should have been discussed in Parliament.
“All this is because of their policies. It would have been better if these things were debated in Parliament, so that we could raise the questions of the people,” she said.
