Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, dismissed media reports claiming that the state government planned to revive the amphibious bus service at Harike in Ranjit Sagar Lake. He labeled these reports as baseless rumors. Sond criticized the previous administrations for investing approximately Rs. 8.63 crore in the amphibious bus project, calling it a waste of public funds.
He emphasized that the bus, currently under investigation, is not fit for operation and poses safety risks. Sond assured that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, the government would prioritize the welfare of Punjab’s residents and would not take any action that could endanger lives or finances.
The minister also noted that the venture was financially unsuccessful, with minimal revenue generated compared to the substantial expenditure. He concluded by calling the amphibious bus project a “super fail,” highlighting the misuse of resources that could have supported better welfare initiatives.
