New Delhi, November 4
India has called on the Canadian government to take immediate action following an attack on the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Ontario, which it attributed to extremist and separatist elements.
“We condemn the acts of violence perpetrated by extremists and separatists at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Ontario yesterday,” said India’s official spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, in a statement on Monday.
India asked Canada to ensure robust protection for all places of worship and demanded the prosecution of those responsible for the violence. “We also expect that those indulging in violence will be prosecuted,” Jaiswal added.
The spokesperson expressed concern over the safety and security of Indian nationals in Canada, emphasizing that the intimidation, harassment, and violence would not hinder the outreach of consular services for Indians and Canadian citizens alike.
