Shimla, March 19
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said that buses from the state will be provided security in Punjab following concerns over recent unrest. Chief Minister Sukhu spoke with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who assured him that a safe environment would be maintained. The discussion will also take place at the level of the Director General of Police (DGP) to coordinate security measures.
Addressing the state assembly, Sukhu described Punjab as Himachal’s “elder brother” and welcomed Mann’s commitment to taking action against those responsible for stone-pelting and disturbances. He also reaffirmed respect for all religious leaders but said that attempts to disrupt peace were unacceptable.
