Chandigarh, December 27
The Punjab Government has announced a seven-day state mourning period, from December 26, 2024, to January 1, 2025, following the death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The decision aligns with the Union Home Ministry’s directive. During this period, no official celebrations will take place in Punjab government offices, and the National Tricolour will be flown at half-mast.
Dr. Singh passed away on Thursday at AIIMS hospital in New Delhi. As a tribute, the Government of India declared seven days of mourning across the nation. The National flag will be flown at half-mast at all locations where it is regularly hoisted, and official entertainment will be suspended.
Dr. Singh’s funeral will take place in New Delhi on Saturday, and he will be accorded a state funeral. The National flag will also fly half-mast at Indian missions abroad on the day of his funeral.
