Punjab Police on Saturday busted a cross-border arms smuggling network after arresting two men and recovering weapons in Sri Muktsar Sahib district. The suspects, identified as Ravi Singh from Malout and his associate from Ferozepur, were apprehended with two 9mm pistols and live cartridges. Sharing details in his post on X previously known as twitter,
DGP Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigations indicated links with smugglers across the border, including a Pakistan-based handler involved in trafficking arms and narcotics. “This operation not only resulted in the recovery of weapons but also exposed a wider arms smuggling network. Technical and financial investigations are underway to trace the entire chain and dismantle the module completely,” DGP Yadav said. The DGP added that Punjab Police remained committed to eliminating cross-border smuggling networks to ensure peace and security in the state.
