The Punjab Police have busted a cross-border narco-smuggling module in an intelligence-led operation, arresting one accused and seizing over six kilograms of heroin. The arrested smuggler, identified as Shankar Singh of Guru Ki Wadali in Amritsar, was found in possession of 6.286 kg of heroin and ₹4 lakh in alleged drug money. The Police said preliminary investigations suggest he was in direct contact with foreign-based smugglers, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav. An FIR has been registered at Lopoke police station, and further investigation is underway to trace the wider network, including both backward and forward linkages, he added.
