Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Wednesday said that Amritsar Rural Police has busted a cross-border smuggling module in an intelligence-led operation and arrested two suspects. The police have also recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) and two mobile phones. The DGP said the preliminary investigations suggested the pair had been in contact with a Pakistan-based handler, indicating “strong cross-border links” behind the alleged conspiracy. He said that Punjab Police remained committed to ensuring the state’s security by neutralising smuggling networks and organised criminal syndicates operating across the border.
