Chandigarh, February 5
The Punjab government has provided jobs to 597 family members of farmers who died during protests against contentious farm laws, Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian said on Tuesday. Khudian handed appointment letters to three individuals—Jasvipan Kamboj from Fazilka, Ramadeep Kaur from Tarn Taran, and Parwinder Kaur from Jalandhar—who joined the Statistics wing of the Agriculture Department as Computer (Stat) officials. “This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to supporting the farming community and their families,” Khudian said, urging new recruits to work with integrity and accountability. The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has created more than 50,000 government jobs across departments, aiming to provide stable employment and boost agricultural growth, he added. Director of Agriculture Jaswant Singh and other officials were present at the event.
