Shimla, November 10
Shimla is gearing up for its annual Winter Carnival, which will be held from 25 to 31 December at the city’s iconic Ridge Ground. The week-long festival will feature a mix of Himachali folk music, traditional dance performances, a regional fashion show, and a star-studded night to mark the New Year’s Eve. The Shimla Municipal Corporation has begun preparations for the event, which will mark the third edition of the Winter Carnival. Last year’s carnival lasted for ten days. Mayor Surinder Chauhan chaired a meeting to review the arrangements and said that this year’s edition would offer a refreshed line-up of cultural events and local attractions.
To create a festive atmosphere, Mall Road and the Ridge will be illuminated with colourful lights and decorated with flowers. Different cultural programmes will be organised daily to highlight Himachal Pradesh’s rich artistic and traditional heritage.
Mayor Chauhan said, “The Winter Carnival celebrates the spirit of Shimla, bringing together locals and tourists in a festive atmosphere from Christmas to New Year.”
