Sumit Antil Wins Back-to-Back Gold in Paralympic Men’s Javelin Throw F64

Indian javelin thrower Sumit Antil delivered a remarkable performance on September 2 at the Paris Paralympic Games. With his best throw of 70.59 m in his second attempt, he was able to secure a gold medal on this global stage in men’s javelin throw F64. This was Antil’s second gold win at the Paralympics Games, as he had also won gold at the Tokyo Paralympic Games with a world record throw of 68.55 m.

The F64 category is designated for athletes with problems in the lower limbs, including those who compete with prosthetics or have differences in leg length. Antil’s left leg was amputated as a result of his motorcycle accident when he was hit with a speeding truck at the age of 17.
