Two people were killed and more than 15 injured when a private bus was struck by falling boulders on the Shimla–Rampur NH-05 on Wednesday. The accident took place near Bithal Kalimitti in Rampur subdivision when rocks suddenly crashed down the hillside onto the vehicle (HP63A-1891, Vishal Travels). Police confirmed that the victims were Lakshmi Virani, daughter of Ramcharan from Jalgaon in Maharashtra, and a woman of Nepali origin. Both died at the scene.
Over 15 passengers were injured and taken to Khaneri Hospital for treatment. Authorities said heavy rainfall has triggered frequent landslides and rockfalls across the region, leaving travellers and drivers on edge about further accidents.
