Satish Shah, the veteran actor celebrated for his roles in iconic films and television shows, has died at the age of 74 due to kidney failure. The news was confirmed by Ashoke Pandit, who posted on X that Shah had passed away an hour earlier. “Sad and shocked to inform you that well-known actor and a great human being Satish Shah has expired due to kidney failure. A great loss to the industry,” he wrote.
Shah rose to prominence with his memorable performance in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and later became a household name with the television sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, where he played the witty and lovable Indravadan Sarabhai.
Comedian Johny Lever paid tribute on X, calling him “a great artist and my dearest friend of over 40 years.” Lever added, “It’s hard to believe—I had spoken to him just two days ago. Satish Bhai, you will truly be missed. Your immense contribution to film and television will never be forgotten.”
Shah’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief from fans and colleagues across the film and television industry.
