Shimla, June 6
Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar was accorded a grand reception upon his arrival at the Annandale Helipad in Shimla today. Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu personally welcomed him. Also present at the helipad were Deputy Chief Minister Shri Mukesh Agnihotri and Public Works Minister Shri Vikramaditya Singh, who is acting as Minister-in-Waiting during the Vice-President’s visit.
Senior officials, including Lt. General Devender Sharma (GOC-in-C, ARTRAC), Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation Shri Surender Chauhan, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Director General of Police, Ashok Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Shri Anupam Kashyap, and Superintendent of Police Shimla Shri Gaurav Singh, were among those in attendance.
After arriving at Raj Bhavan, Shimla, the Vice-President was received by the Governor’s Secretary, C.P. Verma, and was honoured with a ceremonial Guard of Honour. The Governor felicitated Dhankhar on behalf of the people of Himachal Pradesh by presenting him with a traditional Himachali cap, a shawl, and a memento. Vice-President Dhankhar will be staying at Raj Bhavan during his visit and is scheduled to visit Solan tomorrow.
