OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman will visit India next month as the company prepares to open its first office in the country later this year. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Altman said he was eager to meet users and stakeholders in India, noting the country’s rapid embrace of artificial intelligence.
“AI adoption in India has been amazing to watch – ChatGPT users grew fourfold in the past year – and we are excited to invest much more in India,” he wrote. The announcement comes as OpenAI launches ChatGPT Go, a new subscription tier debuting first in India. Priced at ₹399 (under $5) per month, the service offers ten times more usage than the free version at a fraction of the cost of ChatGPT Plus, which is priced at $20.
