Punjab’s Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Wednesday distributed 15 auto e-rickshaws to economically weaker and disabled people in her Malout constituency. The initiative, launched under the state government’s self-employment scheme, is aimed at providing beneficiaries with a sustainable livelihood. Dr Kaur said the scheme, implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, was part of the state’s commitment to economically empower disadvantaged groups. “These are not just vehicles, but a new beginning. They will help people live with dignity and confidence,” she said. She added that the government envisions a Punjab where no family is left helpless and every citizen has the opportunity to stand on their own feet. Several recipients expressed gratitude to the chief minister and Dr Kaur, saying the e-rickshaws would enable them to support their families and live independently.
