CHANDIGARH, OCTOBER 25
Punjab’s Mining and Geology Minister Brinder Kumar Goyal, on Thursday, issued strict orders to curb illegal mining across the state. Addressing senior officials at a meeting in Punjab Bhawan, Goyal warned that any officer found negligent in preventing illegal mining within their jurisdiction would face severe disciplinary measures.
The minister, after reviewing detailed reports from both headquarters and district officials, directed that progress updates on anti-illegal mining actions be submitted to the government every two weeks.
Reaffirming the state’s zero-tolerance policy under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership, Goyal emphasized the government’s commitment to preserving natural resources. He highlighted that tough measures are being taken against violators of mining laws.
Goyal further instructed officials to enhance public engagement, prioritize addressing citizen complaints, and ensure that sand is supplied to the public at affordable rates to boost government revenue.
