Barnala, March 27
The BJP Yuva Morcha workers on Friday staged a protest outside the residence of AAP MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer in Barnala on Friday, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the alleged suicide of Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, district manager of the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation.
During the protest, BJP youth leaders Suman Jethi and Rajinder Uppal said that while the family and several political parties have called for a CBI inquiry, AAP MPs have not supported the demand. The protesters alleged that the AAP is trying to shield a former cabinet minister, which is why the family is not receiving full support.
Slogans were raised and placards were displayed during the protest. Police deployed heavy security and barricades around the MP’s residence to maintain law and order.
BJP leaders reiterated their demand for a fair investigation into the case and urged that justice be delivered to the family. The protest has added a new point of political tension in Punjab following the death of DM Randhawa.
