In line with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s directive to strengthen the cooperative sector, Special Chief Secretary VK Singh instructed officers on Saturday to expedite the digitalisation of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) and complete the process by December 31.
Chairing a meeting of the State Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee (SLIMC), V K Singh emphasized PACS as the backbone of Punjab’s Cooperative Movement and a key player in supporting farmers at the grassroots. The computerisation effort is expected to enhance transparency and efficiency, benefiting farmers directly.
The Special Chief Secretary reviewed the district-wise progress of the initiative and urged timely execution. The meeting also discussed digitalisation of the Registrar Cooperative Societies and Agriculture Cooperative Banks in Punjab, with a vision to streamline PACS operations across the state.
Prominent attendees included Secretary Cooperation and MD of Punjab State Cooperative Bank Anindita Mitra, Registrar Vimal Setia, and representatives from NABARD.
