The newly appointed State Information Commissioners Advocate Dr. Bhupinder Singh Batth, Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal and Varinderjit Singh Billing took charge of their office in the presence of Chief Information Commissioner Inderpal Singh Dhanna and MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer today here at State Information Commission office.
Earlier, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Union Territory, Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, administered the oath of office to the three as new State Information Commissioners of the Right to Information Commission, at the Punjab Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Member of Parliament Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Punjab Chief Information Commissioner Inderpal Singh Dhanna and other senior officials.
The appointments of the new State Information Commissioners were formally notified by Punjab government on August 12.
State Information Commissioners thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan after assuming the charge of office. They assured that they will perform their duties with great diligence and sincerity. On this occasion, Lok Sabha Member Gurmeet Singh Meet Heyer said that the State Information Commissioner appointed by the Punjab Government are very intelligent and I hope that the will perform their duties with full diligence and honesty.
On this occasion, staff from the Punjab State Information Commission office, along with the family and friends of the newly appointed State Information Commissioners, were also present.
