Jalandhar, April 15
The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday carried out searches at multiple business entities linked to Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal in Punjab as part of an investigation under the Foreign Exchange Management Act. The action took place across locations in Jalandhar and Phagwara, officials said.
According to officials, the searches are part of an ongoing probe under the Foreign Exchange Management Act. Several premises associated with Mittal’s business interests were covered during the operation.
Ashok Mittal, 61, is a businessman and educationist who heads the Lovely Group, which includes a university of the same name. He was recently appointed as the deputy leader of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Rajya Sabha, replacing Raghav Chadha.
Officials said that multiple locations linked to Mittal were being searched simultaneously, though further details of the investigation have not been disclosed.
The Enforcement Directorate has not yet issued a detailed statement on the findings of the searches. Further developments are awaited as the probe continues.
