Chandigarh, February 10
The Punjab Labour Department has fully digitalised its services and industrial schemes, making them accessible online with a single click, Labour Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said. Key services, including factory registration, license grants and renewals, building plan approvals, and night shift permissions for women workers, are now available through the department’s official website (https://pblabour.gov.in), Sond further said. Sharing details, he said additionally, workers can now access welfare fund payments, benefit claims, construction site and trade union registrations, and annual labor law submissions online. The Punjab Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board has also simplified terms for schemes such as stipends, leave travel concessions (LTC), and the Shagun Scheme, he said. The Punjab government has abolished the two-year service requirement for laborers under the stipend scheme, allowing benefits from the first day of contribution. The requirement for a registered marriage certificate under the Shagun Scheme has also been removed, with laborers now able to submit photographs from religious ceremonies instead, Sond added.
