The Punjab government has launched intensified campaign to combat drug abuse across the state.
Chief Secretary KAP Sinha has issued directives to all Deputy Commissioners, urging them to take immediate and decisive action against the drug menace. In a formal communication, Sinha instructed district officials to ensure the availability of well-equipped rehabilitation and de-addiction centres, including essential medicines such as Buprenorphine, testing kits, and adequate medical staff.
“The preparations must be undertaken on a war footing,” Sinha stated, emphasizing that each district head would be personally accountable for the implementation of the anti-drug measures. Any negligence, he warned, would lead to strict disciplinary action.
The Chief Secretary will oversee the campaign personally, with IAS officer Sandeep Kumar assigned to conduct inspections and report any shortcomings.
