Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on Monday said that the Punjab Police have busted a cross-border narcotics network operating with links to Pakistan. Sharing details he said that the Counter Intelligence in Amritsar arrested one operative and recovered 5kg of heroin in what he described as a “major breakthrough”. According to investigators, the accused had been acting on the instructions of a Pakistan-based handler and had collected the consignment after it was sent across the border. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar. The Police further inquiries are under way to identify both the supply chain and the intended recipients of the drugs, he added.
