Chandigarh, September 29
Joint Director of Punjab’s Information and Public Relations Department, Preet Kanwal Singh, has lost his mother, Swaranjit Kaur, who passed away on Sunday evening at the age of 80 after a prolonged illness.
She was cremated on Monday at Sector 25 Cremation Ground in Chandigarh, where family, colleagues and well-wishers gathered to pay their respects. She is survived by her husband, Bahadur Singh; sons Amandeep Singh and Preet Kanwal Singh; daughter Gagan Mohini; and their families.
Wreaths were laid on behalf of the Punjab government by Amanjot Singh, OSD (Media) to the Chief Minister, and Sundeep Singh Garha, Additional Director of the Information and Public Relations Department. Several senior officials, including Anil Saini, Director (Media Communication) to the Chief Minister, IAS officers D.S. Mangat and Sukhjit Pal Singh, and former justices P.S. Teji and S.S. Saro, attended the funeral. Department colleagues, journalists and members of the legal fraternity were also present to offer condolences.
