Transport Minister hands over appointment letters to 17 newly-appointed employees

Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Wednesday distributed appointment letters to 17 employees recruited on compassionate grounds, highlighting the state government’s commitment to addressing longstanding grievances. While congratulating the recruits, Bhullar urged them to serve with dedication. “Public service is a noble responsibility,” he said, encouraging the new employees to contribute to societal welfare.

Several appointees recounted decades-long struggles to secure these positions. Sarbajeet Singh, from Jalandhar, shared that his 32-year wait for a job, following his father’s death in 1992, finally ended under the Mann government. Similarly, Sukhdev Singh, 51, expressed gratitude after receiving a job 24 years after his father died in service.

Bhullar criticized previous administrations for delays, noting many cases had been pending for up to 32 years. He emphasized that the Bhagwant Mann-led government has expedited such processes, prioritizing fairness and efficiency. Since taking office in March 2022, the Mann government have created nearly 50,000 government jobs, reversing migration trends as Punjab youth return from abroad due to improved local opportunities, Bhullar added.
